Born of Alba is a contemporary Scottish heritage brand rooted in Hawick's 200-year textile tradition.
THE BEGINNING
Hawick has been in my family's story for generations. A town built on textile excellence, where quality craftsmanship isn't just a tradition - it's a way of life.
Growing up, I knew the names: Pringle of Scotland. Lyle & Scott. Icons of Scottish heritage, born from Hawick's mills and workshops.
But I also watched as manufacturing moved away. The mills quieted. The tradition faded.
Born of Alba is about bringing it back.
WHY THE BLUE UNICORN?
Scotland's national animal deserves to be celebrated. But why blue?
The answer lies in Hawick's flag - gold and blue, representing our town's heritage.
Lyle & Scott claimed the gold in 1874 with their iconic golden eagle. 150 years later, we claim the blue with Scotland's unicorn.
The blue also honors Scotland's Saltire, creating a dual meaning that connects local pride with national identity.
It's intentional. It's respectful. It's Hawick.
