Hawick's Textile Legacy
For over 200 years, Hawick has been synonymous with quality textile manufacturing.
From the Scottish Borders, this small town became a global powerhouse of knitwear and apparel, exporting Scottish craftsmanship to the world.
THE THREE ICONS
Three brands. Three icons. One town.
PRINGLE OF SCOTLAND - The Lion
Established in the 1800s, Pringle brought luxury knitwear to the world from Hawick. The lion became synonymous with premium Scottish quality and timeless style.
LYLE & SCOTT - The Golden Eagle
Founded in 1874, Lyle & Scott claimed the gold from Hawick's flag with their iconic golden eagle. A symbol of quality and heritage known worldwide, representing over 150 years of excellence.
BORN OF ALBA - The Blue Unicorn
Launching 2026, Born of Alba claims the blue from Hawick's flag. Scotland's national animal, embroidered in Saltire blue, continuing the tradition of quality craftsmanship for a new generation.
THE HAWICK FLAG
Gold and blue - two colours, two icons.
Lyle & Scott's golden eagle represents the gold.
Born of Alba's blue unicorn represents the blue.
Together, they honour Hawick's heritage while looking to the future.
A TOWN BUILT ON QUALITY
Hawick's textile industry wasn't just about manufacturing - it was about craftsmanship. Every stitch mattered. Every garment was a reflection of Scottish pride.
At its peak, Hawick's mills employed thousands, producing knitwear that was exported across the globe. The town's reputation for quality was unmatched.
THE DECLINE
Like many manufacturing towns, Hawick faced challenges as production moved overseas. Mills closed. Jobs disappeared. The tradition that built the town began to fade.
But the spirit remained.
THE REVIVAL
Born of Alba is part of Hawick's next chapter.
We honour the past while building the future. Starting with crafted-to-order production, our vision is to bring manufacturing back to Hawick - creating jobs, reviving tradition, and proving that Scottish textile excellence isn't history.
It's the future.
GENERATIONS OF CRAFTSMANSHIP

Welcome to Hawick's legacy.
